About Me

Hi, my name is Stephen Shephard, and I’m a certified meditation teacher and guide with a passion for helping individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues. My recovery journey is a story of resilience, spiritual exploration, and transformation. After spending three years teaching English in Southeast Asia, I embarked on a quest for inner peace and enlightenment, exploring Buddhist temples and studying meditation. It was through this journey that I discovered the transformative power of mindfulness and meditation and became a certified meditation coach, using my knowledge to help others find peace and healing.

Despite my training and dedication to mindfulness practices, I still found myself struggling with addiction and tried various traditional models of sobriety, including AA and NA programs. However, I ultimately felt frustrated with what I saw as an outdated, one-size-fits-all approach to sobriety. I then turned to meditation for my own recovery journey, and through practice and dedication, I found a renewed sense of purpose and peace that carried me forward on a path of sustained sobriety.

Motivated by my own experience and a desire to help others struggling with addiction, I founded Sensory Sobriety, a business dedicated to helping people achieve mindfulness, clarity, and peace on their journey of self-discovery and sobriety. At Sensory Sobriety, I offer a unique approach to recovery, one that recognizes the importance of communal connection and the healing power of mindfulness practices like meditation. I understand firsthand how challenging recovery can be, and I am committed to providing my clients with the support and guidance they need to achieve lasting sobriety.

I’m proud to say that my personal experience and professional training as a meditation teacher have helped me develop a unique perspective on addiction recovery. I know that traditional, “one-size fits all” approaches to recovery are often outdated and ineffective. That’s why I’m passionate about helping individuals find the tools and techniques that work best for them.

In addition to my work with Sensory Sobriety, I’m also the author of the book, “Sensory Sobriety: Using Mindfulness to Overcome Addiction”. This book contains all the helpful information that you can find on our website and provides a comprehensive guide to using mindfulness in your recovery process.

I’ve volunteered at rehabilitation facilities and facilitated meditation meetings, where I’ve seen firsthand the transformative power of mindfulness. I believe that mindfulness is a critical component of a successful recovery, and I’m committed to helping individuals build a strong foundation of mindfulness that they can use to support their ongoing healing journey.
